1 Peter 4:8 NKJV

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

1 John 4:18 (NIV)

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

How Christians Should Celebrate Valentine’s Day
Point #1  Stand up for the truth and proclaim the Gospel of God’s love

Psalm 40:9-10  (NLT)

I have told all your people about your justice.  I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O Lord, well know.  I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly  of your unfailing love and faithfulness.

God’s Love looks like this
1 Corinthians 13:8-13
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.  9For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
10But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Point #2
Die to self for the sake of others.

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

Try it this Valentine’s Day.  Sacrifice what you want for what your loved one wants.

Point #3
Love Somebody

1 John 4:8-9 says:
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.  In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

1 John 3:23
And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

On the day Valentine was to die, he left her a note thanking her for her friendship and loyalty. He signed it, “Love from your Valentine.” That note started the custom of exchanging love notes on Valentine’s Day. It was written on the day he died, February 14, 269 A.D.

Psalm 36:8 O Lord, how precious is your love. My God, the children of the earth find refuge in the shelter of your wings.

Psalm 40:12 Your merciful love and your truth will always guard me.

Psalm 13:5-6 But I have trusted in Your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 19:20 The Lord came to my support. He set me free in the open, and rescued me, because He loves me.

Psalm 63:3 For Your love is better than life; my lips will praise You.

Psalm 86:15 But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

Romans 8:35, 37-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?….No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else is all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Each day is Valentine’s Day
